Lipoedema Awareness Month: Support Events, Free Screenings & Educational Talks

Lipoedema Awareness Month is an annual global health initiative dedicated to raising awareness about Lipoedema—a chronic medical condition that primarily affects women, causing disproportionate fat accumulation in the legs and arms. Often misunderstood as obesity or general weight gain, Lipoedema can lead to physical discomfort, emotional distress, and delayed diagnosis.

Throughout the month, healthcare organizations, specialists, and advocacy groups are hosting a variety of supportive and educational events to empower women with knowledge and access to care.

This year’s campaign includes:

  • Free Lipoedema screenings at selected clinics and hospitals

  • Virtual webinars and Q&A sessions with medical experts discussing symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options

  • Patient storytelling panels where real women share their experiences and struggles with misdiagnosis

  • Educational content on early detection, conservative management (like compression therapy and lymphatic drainage), and surgical solutions such as Lipoedema liposuction

  • Online support groups and community meetups to provide emotional support and guidance

The goal of Lipoedema Awareness Month is to break the stigma, improve early diagnosis, and connect patients with the right specialists and resources. Whether you are living with Lipoedema or want to support someone who is, this month is about advocacy, education, and empowerment.

Early detection and proper care can make a life-changing difference. Let’s raise voices, not just awareness.
